Hi everyone,

Since we often run into these situations, and we've never really had this enshrined in a policy before, I wanted to clarify for the guild just how we handle prioritizing loot distribution.

Obviously, the DKP tool and listing tells us who is higher on the list, but there are a few additional factors we also consider before we even consult the list. Basically, loot is prioritized as such:

1) Mains on-spec (e.g. a piece of healing gear going to a holy priest)
2) Mains off-spec (e.g. a piece of DPS gear going to a prot warrior) and/or alts
3) Alts off-spec

It is only within each level that we consult the DKP list to break ties.

In judging whether you are interested in a piece of loot, we can only trust that each of you will use selfless discretion. If you are considering a piece of loot for anything other than your current "role" in raids, then we ask that you first let it pass to someone else for whom it would be a valid upgrade and would be used for raid purposes.

Please note that we will take the term "current role" literally. If someone is planning to change specs, for any reason, their current spec will still be the one considered for loot prioroty. Only after the player has made their new spec official will they regain top priority for any relevant on-spec loot.
